Peyton Manning: The Legend Of All Legends Throws For 500th

#LegendOfAllLegends

Can't really say that I'm surprised at Quarterback Peyton Manning's recent, record breaking performance on sunday against the previous undefeated Arizona Cardinals.  Manning's numbers (31-47, 479 yards, & 4 TD's) were absolutely outstanding, but his performance was just iCandy.   His 479 yards was a career high, as he cruised past his 500th touchdown to reach 503, and placed him 2nd all time behind Brett Farve.

"I do think about how many people have helped throughout my career with something like that and just how grateful I am for that help and support," Manning said. "Football is the ultimate team game, and so I guess one man kind of has to accept it, but I kind of accept on behalf of a lot of coaches and teammates."

This team first attitude was displayed in Manning's teammates as they too also broke records.  Wide Receiver Damarius Thomas broke Shannon Sharps single game receiving record, racking up 226 yards and 2 touchdowns on just 8 receptions.  Wes Welker, who earlier this year was in danger of not even playing this season, racked up his 850th catch.  Breaking Rod Smith's record for an un-drafted player.  Broncos once again look to be heading to another Super Bowl appearance if they continue to play like they did Sunday.

The Unanswerable Question?

I’ve never been the one to sit in front of the TV and spend hours watching a game.  Being a person on the run, I’ve appreciated and have taken full advantage of the mobile and social platforms that allow instant on-the-go access to games, stats, highlight, and more.  But I fell in love with the passion and dedication of the fan, which drives me to wonder what drives us sports fans to fall so deeply in love with teams and the game?  What is it about waking up Sunday morning and diving head first into pre-game programs that talk football, and staying on that couch or bar stool all the way until Sunday night.  Why do we Americans risk friendships and form alliances to proclaim loyalty to the colors and logo’s of our favorite team.  In a world where people are judged based on social status, tax bracket, culture, and gender the passion and dedication is the same.  No matter the television size, the quality of the bar room, or what seat at the stadium we’re in, in this sport world we are all equal, we all share the same passion. But the question still lingers, why does it have such a profound influence to the fan?  It’s not like we are getting paid for this, we don’t get any financial or physical gain, and it sure doesn’t promote us further in life.  So why invest so much time and money into it?  I sure don’t have an answer, and I wish someone could tell me.  All I know is that all throughout history the story has been the same.  Since the Coliseum in Rome to the Stadiums of the world today, the fan is going nowhere, and we are the most loyal investors than any investor in any business.
